What All-on-4 and All-on-6 cost in the UK
UK prices for a full arch vary by thousands of pounds between practices. Here is the best public benchmark we have, what it leaves out, and how four and six compare on a UK quote.
Full-arch implant treatment in the UK is almost always private. The only published survey of UK implant fees we have found, from 2017, put an implant-supported full-arch bridge or denture at an average of £13,425 per jaw, with quotes from £9,000 to £25,400, before scans, extractions or grafts. Six implants usually cost more than four on a UK quote because each implant is often priced separately. The NHS rarely funds implants.
The UK benchmark
There is no official price list for private implant treatment in the UK. The most useful public figures we have found come from a survey of more than 25 UK implant dentists, carried out in autumn 2016 and reported by Dentistry.co.uk in 2017:
| Treatment | Lowest quote | Highest quote | Average |
|---|---|---|---|
| Implant-supported full-arch bridge or denture (one jaw) | £9,000 | £25,400 | £13,425 |
| Single implant and crown | £1,700 | £3,000 | £2,334 |
| Implant-supported three-unit bridge | £3,200 | £6,624 | £5,023 |
Source: Dentistry.co.uk, July 2017. Fees were for treatment only.
Two cautions. First, the survey is old; fees have almost certainly risen since. Second, it groups fixed bridges and implant dentures together, and does not split four implants from six. Treat it as a floor for comparison rather than a current price.
For both jaws, simple arithmetic on the survey average gives about £26,850, before any extras.
What the NHS covers
The NHS says dental implants are not usually available on the NHS. The exceptions are people with a clear clinical need who cannot wear dentures, for example after surgery for mouth cancer or after an accident. For most people, the NHS option for missing teeth is a denture or a conventional bridge under Band 3, which costs £332.10 in England.
Four or six on a UK quote
UK practices often build a full-arch quote from parts: a fee per implant, a fee for the connecting parts, a fee for the bridge, and fees for scans, sedation and extractions. On that kind of quote, six implants visibly cost more than four. Other practices quote one figure per arch. Either way, ask for:
- both options priced, so you can see what two extra implants per jaw cost
- the implant brand, and whether the price changes with a different brand
- the bridge material: acrylic teeth on a metal bar, or zirconia
- whether temporary teeth are included between surgery and the final bridge
- what grafting or a sinus lift would add, if six needs it and four does not
- the number of appointments and what follow-up is included
What UK quotes often leave out
- Consultation and CBCT scan: sometimes charged separately before a plan is made.
- Extractions of remaining teeth.
- Sedation, which many people choose for full-arch surgery.
- Bone grafts and sinus lifts.
- Temporary teeth while the implants heal.
- Maintenance visits once the bridge is fitted.
Paying for it
Many practices offer monthly payments through a finance company. That spreads the cost but can add a lot to the total if interest is charged. The Financial Conduct Authority’s consumer pages explain what to check before signing a credit agreement. Whatever you choose, compare the total amount payable, not just the monthly figure.
Comparing with treatment abroad
Treatment in Turkey usually costs much less, but you add flights and time away, and aftercare happens partly at a distance. Our page on All-on-4 and All-on-6 prices in Turkey sets out published prices, and allon6cost.co.uk has a calculator that adds travel and extras for a like-for-like total. Why four and six differ in price at all is on the cost difference.
Common questions
Does the NHS pay for All-on-4 or All-on-6?
Rarely. The NHS says dental implants are not usually available on the NHS, apart from some people who cannot wear dentures, for example after mouth cancer surgery or an accident. NHS Band 3 in England (£332.10) covers dentures and bridges, not implants.
Is the UK price per jaw or for both?
Usually per jaw (per arch). If you need both jaws, ask for the total. The survey average of £13,425 was for one arch.
Why do UK quotes for six implants cost more than four?
Many UK practices price each implant, and sometimes each abutment, separately. Two more implants per jaw therefore add a visible amount. Ask for both options itemised so you can see the difference.
Can I pay monthly in the UK?
Many UK practices offer finance through a credit provider. Check the interest rate and total amount payable; finance can add substantially to the cost.
Is it cheaper to have one jaw done in the UK and one abroad?
It is possible but rarely sensible. The two arches bite against each other and are best planned together by one team.
