Treatment abroad

All-on-4 or All-on-6 in Turkey

Treatment abroad changes the timing of the decision, not the reasons for it. Here is how to make sure four or six is chosen for the right reasons when you only have a few days in the clinic.

Short answer

In Turkey, the number of implants is usually proposed from an X-ray you send before travelling and confirmed from a 3D scan on the first day. Both All-on-4 and All-on-6 normally fit into two trips: implants and fixed temporary teeth on the first, the final bridge a few months later. A sinus lift or graft, sometimes needed for six, can add healing time. Bring your UK X-ray, ask for the plan in writing before treatment starts, and arrange UK aftercare before you go.

The decision happens in two steps

Before you fly

  • You send a panoramic X-ray from a UK dentist, or clear photos
  • The dentist gives a provisional view: four, six, or not sure yet
  • You get a provisional price for each option

Day one at the clinic

  • A CBCT 3D scan shows bone height, width, the sinus and the nerve
  • The dentist confirms four or six, and whether a graft is needed
  • You see the plan and price in writing before anything starts

A panoramic X-ray is good at showing bone height. It cannot show width, and it flattens the sinus and nerve. That is why a provisional “six” can become “four” on the first day, or the other way round. A careful clinic will explain this before you travel, so that a change is not a surprise.

How the trips usually work

  1. First trip, about a week. Scan, extractions if needed, implant surgery and fixed temporary teeth, usually within a few days of surgery, plus check-ups before you fly.
  2. Healing at home, several months. The implants bond with the bone. You wear the temporary bridge and eat softer food.
  3. Second trip, about a week. Precise records of the implant positions, try-ins, then the final bridge is fitted and adjusted.

That pattern is the same for four and six. Precious Dental’s full-arch packages include four hotel nights on the first trip and five on the second. The practical side of the two trips is covered in depth on allon6turkey.co.uk.

Where grafts change the plan

Six implants spread further along the jaw. In the upper jaw that can mean placing implants where the sinus has dropped. If there is not enough bone, a sinus lift adds bone under the sinus floor. Sometimes it is done at the same time as the implants; sometimes it needs to heal first, which can mean an extra trip or a longer wait. Four implants with tilted back implants are designed to avoid this. If a clinic proposes six with a sinus lift, ask whether four would avoid it, and what difference each would make to the number of trips.

Questions to settle before you book

  • Who will place the implants, and can you see their registration?
  • Is the clinic listed on HealthTürkiye, with an authorisation number?
  • What happens if the scan changes the plan: does the price change, and by how much?
  • Which implant brand, and will you get an implant passport?
  • What is the final bridge made of?
  • What does the guarantee cover, and what does it ask of you?
  • Who pays for travel if something needs fixing?

A fuller list, specific to choosing between four and six, is on questions for a clinic.

Back in the UK

Find a UK dentist willing to see you for check-ups before you go. Bring home your implant passport, copies of the scan and X-rays, and the details of the screws used on your bridge. Keep the clinic’s WhatsApp number. If you have severe pain, spreading swelling or a fever after treatment, call NHS 111 rather than waiting for a reply from abroad.

Prices

Our top pick, Precious Dental, charges £6,000 for All-on-4 and £6,500 for All-on-6, each for both jaws. Other Antalya clinics’ published prices are on our clinics page, and what to add for flights and time away is on prices in Turkey.

Common questions

When is four or six decided if I am treated in Turkey?

A provisional plan comes from the X-ray or photos you send. The final decision is made after the CBCT scan on the first day, before any treatment, and should be explained to you and written into the plan.

Does All-on-6 need a longer stay than All-on-4?

Usually not. Surgery takes a little longer, but the stay is similar. A sinus lift or bone graft, if needed for six, can mean a longer wait before the final teeth.

Can I change my mind on the day?

Yes. You should not sign a plan you are unsure about. Ask the dentist to show you on the scan why they recommend four or six.

Who looks after the implants when I am home?

Ideally a UK dentist you have found before travelling, with the clinic available on WhatsApp for questions. Bring home your implant passport and copies of the scans.

Is it safe to have implants in Turkey?

Many UK patients have treatment in Turkey. The NHS treatment abroad checklist suggests checking the clinic's registration, the dentist's qualifications, the guarantee and aftercare arrangements before you go. Clinics treating international patients are listed on HealthTürkiye.

Four or six, for your mouth

Only a scan can settle it.

Send us an X-ray or scan if you have one. A dentist will tell you which option suits your bone, and say so honestly if neither is the right step.
