Editorial policy
The rules we write to, so you can judge how far to trust each page.
What the site is for
To help UK patients understand the real differences between a full arch of teeth on four implants and on six, so that they can have a better conversation with any dentist. It is published by Precious Dental, and the advertising disclosure explains what that means.
Sources we rely on
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses in peer-reviewed journals, found through PubMed. Where a review pools many studies we prefer it to a single trial.
- Long-term clinical studies where no review exists, with the number of patients and years of follow-up stated.
- UK public bodies: the NHS, GOV.UK and the Oral Health Foundation for patient information, NHS charges and treatment abroad.
- Manufacturers, only for what a product or treatment concept is, never for claims about results.
- Clinic websites, only for what that clinic says about itself, such as its prices, with the date we read them.
Every page lists its sources at the bottom. A list of the main studies, with what each one measured, is on research and evidence.
How we summarise research
- We give the size of a result where it matters, not just “better” or “worse”.
- We say when a finding comes from one jaw only, from a small number of studies or from a single clinic’s patients.
- We separate implant survival (the implant is still there), prosthesis survival (the bridge is still in use) and complications (things that needed fixing). They are easily mixed up.
- Where studies disagree or the evidence is thin, we say so rather than picking the convenient one.
Prices
Precious Dental’s prices come from the clinic’s published price list and are labelled as ours. Other clinics’ prices are quoted from their own websites with the date. UK figures come from the only published survey of UK implant fees we have found, and we say how old it is. We never present our own price as a market average.
Medical review
Pages describing treatment, healing, risks or aftercare are reviewed by Dt. Hüseyin Yavuz Özbek before publication and when they change. The process is set out in our medical review policy.
Updates
Each page shows when it was last updated. We re-check prices and the main sources when we update a page, and we correct errors as described in our corrections policy.
Style
Plain British English, short sentences, and a readable type size for people who may be reading without their glasses. Technical words are explained the first time they appear. We avoid scare stories and miracle promises alike.
Only a scan can settle it.
Send us an X-ray or scan if you have one. A dentist will tell you which option suits your bone, and say so honestly if neither is the right step.
